Fellowship Project
Dr. Mao Qiujin spent twelve months (September 2015 – September 2016) at the Yale University Art Gallery in New Haven, the U.S.A., where she received museum raining and conducted research on the gallery’s collection of Chinese calligraphy and paintings.
Biography
Dr. Mao Qiujin received her Ph. D. degree in history of Chinese art from the Fine Arts Department of The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2006. She has worked at the Chinese Civilisation Centre of City University of Hong Kong and is currently professor of Soochow University in Suzhou. She teaches courses on the history of Chinese art, the archaeology of art and museology. Her research interests are Buddhist art and the history of Chinese traditional calligraphy and paintings.
Recent Development and Achievement
In recent years, Dr. Mao has led undergraduate students in the museology course to conduct research at museums in Suzhou and the surrounding cities. Students learn about Chinese art history, art archaeology and Dunhuang grotto art through such fieldwork experience.
