Fellowship Project
Ms. Lin Miao-miao spent twelve months (December 2012 – December 2013) at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, U.S.A. where she assisted in organizing Chinese art exhibitions and planning educational programmes and demonstrations. She completed her research on “How Does the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art Best Present The Art of Foreign Culture to Local Audience” in the museum’s East Asian Art Department and Education Department. While she was in the States, she visited more than 20 museums including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Museum of Modern Art and the Art Institute of Chicago where she dived deep into the general operation of American museums.
Biography
Ms. Lin Miaomiao holds a M.A. in Fine Arts and is a member of the International Council of Museums. Ms. Lin currently works for the Hong Kong Palace Museum as the Senior Manager of Exhibition Planning and Management. Her areas of expertise include exhibition planning, project management and museum education.
Prior to joining the Hong Kong Palace Museum, Ms. Lin had served as Director of Exhibition Projects at Beijing Huaxie Cultural Development Co., Ltd., and Head of Exhibition Planning of the Curatorial Department and Head of the Education Department at the Beijing World Art Museum.
She was involved in public education programmes, external communication and project management for exhibitions including The Great Civilizations (2006 – 2009); Tales from an Eruption: Pompeii, Herculaneum, Oplontis ( 2007); Qin-Han and Roman Civilizations (2009); Jade: China’s Immortal Soul (2012 – 2013); Un maître et ses maîtres – XU Beihong et la grande peinture académique française (2014); China Millennium Monument: French Culture Month (2017); Empress Dowager, Cixi: Selections from the Summer Palace (2018); and Zheng Zhenduo Literature Exhibition (2019). She played a major role in editing the book In memory of Mr. Zheng Zhenduo and organizing the “Hong Kong and Macau University Students’ Cultural Activity”, a 4-year project at Beijing World Art Museum presented by the Chinese Ministry of Culture.
Ms. Lin visited Germany as a delegate of the Chinese Youth Delegation elected by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China. She was invited as a guest speaker and moderator to forums and workshops in China and abroad by various institutions, including The Palace Museum, Bei Shan Tang Foundation, The British Museum, and The American Alliance of Museums.
